Wong Fei Hung (Jet Li) arrives in a China where the White Lotus Society, a fanatical cult, is attacking Europeans and any Chinese who follow Western ways. He also has to protect the revolutionary Dr. Sun Yat Sen from the military, with 13th Aunt (Rosamund Kwan Chi-Lam) and Leung Foon (Max Mok Siu-chung) at his side. Tsui Hark puts him in the middle of it, a healer and fighter who would rather keep people alive than win a fight.
