One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

Randle McMurphy (Jack Nicholson) is transferred to a state mental hospital and decides he can run the place better than Nurse Ratched (Louise Fletcher), who rules through silence and sedation. He wants to wake the other patients up, to get them to laugh and fight back against the system that has flattened them into compliance. But the ward has its own logic, and his defiance costs not just him but the men he has tried to save.
