Dr. Andre Bertier (Maurice Chevalier) wants nothing more than his marriage to Colette (Jeanette MacDonald), and he says so, to her and to the camera. Then Colette introduces him to her friend Mitzi (Genevieve Tobin), who is flirtatious and persistent, and whose husband has begun having her followed. Ernst Lubitsch sets a happy household against all of this, with a husband's good name and a wife's trust both on the table.
