One Missed Call

“Death cannot be put on hold...”

A voicemail arrives on a student's phone, timestamped two days ahead, and the recording is her own voice screaming as she dies. Yumi Nakamura (Ko Shibasaki), a psychology student, watches the date come due for her friend Yoko and then for others who get the same call. Takashi Miike makes the dread about the phone itself, the one thing everyone keeps in a pocket and no one can afford to ignore.
