One of Our Aircraft Is Missing

(1942)Directed by Emeric Pressburger, Michael Powell102 minWar, Drama
“1942's first blast of screen dynamite”

After a night raid on Germany, the crew of B for Bertie bail out over the Netherlands when their bomber is hit, and the six men come down in the dark among strangers. Tom Earnshaw (Eric Portman) and Sir George Corbett (Godfrey Tearle) are sheltered by Dutch civilians who risk their own lives to hide them. Powell and Pressburger let the airmen and the villagers feed, hide and trust one another long before they share a language.
