One on One

“You're not big enough. You're not sharp enough. You'll never make it.”

Henry Steele (Robby Benson) leaves his small-town high school, where he was the star of the basketball team, for a big-city university on a scholarship, and finds he can do little besides play. Coach Smith (G.D. Spradlin) expects results, and the hours pile up while Henry never learned to read properly. Lamont Johnson follows him as a tutor, Janet Hays (Annette O'Toole), is assigned to him, with his scholarship and his place on the team in the coach's hands.
