How far can 35 yen carry two people through Tokyo after the war? Yuzo (Isao Numasaki) and Masako (Chieko Nakakita) can only see each other on Sundays, and this one begins with that much money and no plans. Their search for a place to live is one of the things they chase. Kurosawa follows them from stop to stop, and Yuzo keeps his hand in his pocket, closed around the coins.
