Only God Forgives

(2013)Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn89 min · RDrama, Thriller, Crime
“Time to meet the Devil.”

Crystal (Kristin Scott Thomas) arrives in Bangkok and tells her son Julian (Ryan Gosling) to find the man who killed his brother. Julian runs a Thai boxing club there, which doubles as cover for the family's drug smuggling, and he has no real appetite for the job. Nicolas Winding Refn shoots Bangkok in saturated reds and long, slow takes, letting the camera linger on faces and empty corridors.
