Louis Stevens (Mark Dacascos) comes home to Miami from his military service in Brazil to find his old high school overrun by gangs and drug dealers, and he is not sure how it got that way. After he clears several dealers off the grounds with capoeira, a teacher named Kerrigan (Geoffrey Lewis) hands him the school's worst at-risk students to teach. Sheldon Lettich films the Afro-Brazilian martial art from start to finish, one of the only Hollywood films to do so.
