Only Two Can Play

(1962)Directed by Sidney Gilliat106 minComedy

Why does a Welsh valleys librarian, bored with his job and his wife, suddenly find himself the object of a councillor's wife's attention? John Lewis (Peter Sellers) is passed over at work and restless at home when Liz (Mai Zetterling) sets her sights on him. Sidney Gilliat keeps the story in a small town where everyone knows everyone, and the film is about wanting more than you have while the place you live keeps watching.
