“The Show Must Go On…”

A young fan chases Myrtle Gordon's limousine through the rain to reach her, and a car kills her. Myrtle (Gena Rowlands), a stage actress who drinks, is days from opening a play about a woman afraid of growing old, and she cannot stop seeing the girl. John Cassavetes follows her through rehearsals and nights alone, and Manny Victor (Ben Gazzara), the director, has a theater booked, an audience coming, and a lead who may not walk on.
