Izarra (Gian Maria Volonté) belongs to a small ETA cell in Spain in 1973, where Franco is old and sick and Admiral Carrero Blanco stands ready to carry the regime forward. The cell decides Blanco must die before that can happen, and Gillo Pontecorvo follows the planning in grainy, patient detail. Izarra and Iker (José Sacristán) work side by side through it, two men bound by the same secret.
