Operation Y and Other Shurik's Adventures

Shurik (Aleksandr Demyanenko) is a naive, bespectacled Soviet student who keeps landing in absurd trouble, and the film is three separate stories of how he gets out of it. Leonid Gaidai gives each one its own setup, with a stern policeman (Vladimir Basov) and a foreman (Mikhail Pugovkin) along the way. Through all three, Shurik stands there in his glasses and neat jacket, polite and puzzled, while the chaos piles up around him.
