“Find your purpose. Make a difference.”

A hairdresser named Sharon Stevens (Hilary Swank) hears about a stranger's family in trouble and cannot let it go. Ed Schmitt (Alan Ritchson) is a widowed father raising two girls, one of them, young Michelle (Emily Mitchell), critically ill. Jon Gunn sets it during the 1994 cold wave, with a whole community to rally and very little time to save her.
