Orgies of Edo

Japan's Genroku era is a time of peace and money, and Orgies of Edo finds its subjects underneath the prosperity. Teruo Ishii tells three separate stories, each following a woman, among them Oito (Masumi Tachibana) and Ochise (Mitsuko Aoi), who is caught in a household of violence, sadomasochism, incest and torture. Ishii shoots all of it as a series of cruelty lessons, set against the cheerful surface of the period.
