“There's something wrong with Esther.”

Esther's past is thinner than her paperwork suggests, and Kate (Vera Farmiga) is the first to feel it. She and John (Peter Sarsgaard) adopted the nine-year-old (Isabelle Fuhrman) after the loss of their stillborn child, hoping to fill the quiet in their house.
