Bertrand Barnier (Louis de Funès), an industrialist, has one morning to learn that his daughter is pregnant, an employee has stolen a large sum from his company, and his maid means to resign and marry a wealthy neighbor. Édouard Molinaro adapts a Paris stage play, and de Funès plays the whole day in frantic mime, arms flying, voice cracking. Behind every slammed door is Germaine (Claude Gensac), his wife, who keeps standing beside him through each new calamity.
