Cairo, 1955. The French agent Hubert Bonisseur de La Bath, code-named OSS 117 (Jean Dujardin), arrives to find out what happened to Jack Jefferson (Philippe Lefebvre), his best friend and fellow spy. Michel Hazanavicius sends him into the city's tangle of rival interests, where Larmina El Akmar Betouche (Bérénice Bejo) is among the first people he meets. Jack is still missing, and every lead pulls Hubert further from a simple answer.
