Other People's Children

(2022)Directed by Rebecca Zlotowski104 minDrama, Comedy

Rachel Friedmann (Virginie Efira), a 40-year-old teacher with a full life of students, friends and guitar lessons, falls for Ali (Roschdy Zem) and soon finds herself tucking in his 4-year-old daughter, Leïla. She loves the girl the way a mother would, though she isn't one, and at her age the wish for a child of her own keeps getting louder. Rebecca Zlotowski keeps the camera close on Efira's face and lets the tenderness and the ache share the same frame.
