In 1923, William McKay (Buster Keaton) travels home to claim the family estate he left behind as a child. On the way he falls for Virginia Canfield (Natalie Talmadge), not knowing that her father, Joseph (Joe Roberts), and her brothers have sworn to kill every McKay. Buster Keaton and John G. Blystone play the feud for laughs, and the chase scenes were staged with real physical risk.
