Our Man in Havana

(1960)Directed by Carol Reed111 minComedy, Thriller
“A murderously funny story, magnificently cast... marvelously made !”

Jim Wormold (Alec Guinness) is an expatriate Englishman in pre-revolutionary Havana, raising his teenage daughter Milly and selling vacuum cleaners that few people buy. When Hawthorne (Noël Coward) of the British Secret Service offers him a job recruiting a network of agents in Cuba, Jim takes it, because the shop is not paying. Carol Reed brings Graham Greene's novel to the screen, and Jim's only real company is his friend Dr. Hasselbacher (Burl Ives).
