Outrageous Fortune

(1987)Directed by Arthur Hiller100 min · RComedy
“The CIA is trailing them, the KGB is tracking them, the phone company is tracing them, the police are chasing them, the cowboys are herding them, and the Indians are hunting them. Are they going to fall for all of that?”

Lauren Ames (Shelley Long), a refined actress, and Sandy Brozinsky (Bette Midler), a brash and loud one, both land in the acting class of Stanislav Korzenowski (Robert Prosky). Soon they discover they are dating the same man, and they chase him across the country to make him choose. Arthur Hiller plays them against each other at full volume, and the joke is how little two opposite women can agree on, even when they want the same thing.
