“The three cleverest crooks in the world!”

Molly Madden (Priscilla Dean) wants out of the San Francisco underworld, and her father, Silent Madden (Ralph Lewis), wants it too, with the teachings of the Confucian master Chang Lo guiding them. Tod Browning sets their attempt at a clean life against Black Mike Sylva (Lon Chaney), who is determined to frame Silent over an old mistake. A man who has left crime behind still answers to what he did before he left.
