Overdose

(1983)Directed by Eloy de la Iglesia105 minDrama

Paco (José Luis Manzano), the teenage son of a Civil Guard commander in the Basque Country, is hooked on heroin, and so is the friend he shares it with. Eloy de la Iglesia sets their habit against 1980s street crime and Basque nationalism, with two fathers on opposite sides of the politics. The film treats addiction as a danger a whole town leaves unspoken until it reaches the household.
