Padayappa

The film is set in a Tamil village in 1999, where Dharmalingam (Sivaji Ganesan) gives up his property to his foster brother and dies of shock soon after. His son Padayappa (Rajinikanth), a mechanical engineer, comes home to a family left with little, and to his cousin Neelambari (Ramya Krishnan), who once loved him and now wants him humiliated. K. S. Ravikumar stages it at full volume, with A. R. Rahman's score pushing every entrance and every grudge.
