Padre Pio

Padre Pio (Shia LaBeouf) is a young Capuchin friar who arrives at a remote monastery in San Giovanni Rotondo just as the First World War ends, and the visions of Jesus, Mary and the Devil start to come to him. Abel Ferrara sets his story among the poor of the town, soldiers coming home broken to the rule of the church and its wealthy landowners. It is a film about faith and hunger pulling at the same people, in a place with nothing to spare.
