“Pain, Glory, Love, Art, Cinema”

Salvador Mallo (Antonio Banderas) is a filmmaker in the last stretch of his career, and he wants to get back to work. He can't, because the emptiness he feels and his failing health keep him from filming. Almodóvar moves him between a village in Valencia in the sixties and Madrid in the eighties, as Salvador turns to his mother and his lovers, and to the old life he has to write down before it slips away.
