“A little imagination goes a long way”

Richard Dunne (Jeff Daniels) is a failed novelist who still takes his advice from Captain Excellent (Ryan Reynolds), the superhero he invented as a boy. His wife Claire (Lisa Kudrow) is busy and tired of waiting, and Richard strikes up an unlikely friendship with Abby (Emma Stone), a 17-year-old on Long Island. Kieran and Michele Mulroney write it as a story of two lonely people who each need someone to teach them how to grow up.
