In 1988, young sisters Katie (Chloe Csengery) and Kristi share a bedroom with an invisible friend who only she and her sister can see. Dennis (Christopher Nicholas Smith), their mother's boyfriend, sets up cameras around the house to find out what the girls are talking to. Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman leave the footage running, and the girls' bedroom stays in frame, door half open.
