Joyce Ramsey (Bette Davis) wants to hold onto a marriage her husband David (Barry Sullivan) has abruptly decided to end. When she learns he has taken up with a younger woman, she books a solo trip to the Caribbean. Curtis Bernhardt follows the marriage from its hopeful early years to the divorce, and Joyce, running into her embittered old friend Emily (Jane Cowl), sits with the question of one last chance.
