A stranger named Joe Manganiello (Joe Manganiello) rolls into the diner where Pee-wee Herman (Paul Reubens) works the grill, and one conversation is enough to make Pee-wee want to leave his small town for the first time. He sets out for New York to attend Joe's birthday party. John Lee directs it in bright, storybook colors, with the bow tie and gray suit unchanged from 1985.
