Penny Serenade

(1941)Directed by George Stevens120 minDrama, Romance
“"Remember the tune they were singing the night we fell in love?..."”

A woman packs to leave her husband, and a stack of old records stops her before she can finish. Julie Gardiner (Irene Dunne) plays them one by one, and each song carries her back through her marriage to Roger Adams (Cary Grant) and their long wish for a child. George Stevens builds the story from those records, and Julie keeps holding on to a life she has not stopped wanting.
