Peppermint Frappé

Julián (José Luis López Vázquez), a single middle-aged doctor, wants one thing: to be noticed by Elena (Geraldine Chaplin), the young wife of his old friend Pablo (Alfredo Mayo). He has persuaded himself she is the drummer he once loved at a festival, and he pursues her. Carlos Saura keeps the film cold and restrained, and what drives it is a lonely man's refusal to see what is in front of him.
