Perfect Days

“In a world of fleeting moments, find the beauty that lasts.”

Nobody in the film explains why Hirayama (Koji Yakusho), a toilet cleaner in Tokyo, is so settled in a life this small. He rises, works his route, plays cassette tapes in his van, reads his books and photographs the trees. Wim Wenders builds the film around that routine, and the unexpected encounters that interrupt it put the whole careful arrangement at risk.
