(1997)Directed by Lírio Ferreira, Paulo Caldas93 minDrama, History

Benjamin Abrahão (Duda Mamberti) is a Lebanese photographer working in Brazil in the 1930s, and he has set himself an unlikely goal: to film Lampião (Luiz Carlos Vasconcelos), the bandit chief of the Cangaço. Lírio Ferreira and Paulo Caldas follow him as he befriends the outlaw and records his band, a task the Brazilian army never managed. The footage Abrahão shot in 1936 sits inside the film itself, grainy and pale as old bone.
