Permanent

“Hairstyles are temporary. Family is forever.”

Aurelie (Kira McLean) is thirteen in 1983, newly arrived at a school in small town Virginia, and a perm has gone wrong in a way her hair will not forgive. Her father Jim (Rainn Wilson) and mother Jeanne (Patricia Arquette) have plenty of their own trouble, and the bullies at school have noticed her. Colette Burson, who wrote the script as well, keeps the camera on the family up close, as if the Dixon house were a place she remembers.
