Persian Lessons

In occupied France in 1942, Gilles (Nahuel Pérez Biscayart) is arrested with other Jews and shipped to a camp in Germany, where he escapes a firing squad by swearing he is Persian. The lie buys him a job. Klaus Koch (Lars Eidinger), the camp's commander, wants to learn Farsi before opening a restaurant in Iran, and Gilles, who knows no Farsi, must invent every word he teaches, remembering each one, because a single slip ends it.
