Peyton Place

(1957)Directed by Mark Robson157 minDrama, Romance
“Small town America will never be the same again.”

Constance MacKenzie (Lana Turner) runs a dress shop in a tidy New England mill town and has spent years being strict about sex, because of the one lapse that gave her a daughter, Allison (Diane Varsi). Then a new teacher, Michael Rossi (Lee Philips), arrives, and she can't keep him out of her thoughts. Mark Robson films the white clapboard streets as calm as a postcard, with the gossip running underneath.
