Philadelphia

“No one would take on his case... until one man was willing to take on the system.”

In Philadelphia in the early 1990s, Andrew Beckett (Tom Hanks) is a lawyer at a prestigious firm, until the partners fire him after learning he has AIDS. No lawyer in the city will take his case except Joe Miller (Denzel Washington), a personal injury attorney who has his own prejudices about the disease. Jonathan Demme makes the courtroom a place where a man is asked to prove he deserved his place.
