Philomena

(2013)Directed by Stephen Frears98 min · PG-13Drama
“These two unlikely companions are on a journey to find her long lost son.”

Philomena (Judi Dench) has been searching for fifty years for the son who was taken from her when she was a girl living in a convent in Ireland. She enlists Martin Sixsmith (Steve Coogan), a journalist with no taste for human-interest stories, and Stephen Frears sends the two of them off together to find him. Under the search runs a question of what a person is owed after a loss like this, and how long the wanting is allowed to go on.
