Pickpocket

In Fenyang, Jia Zhangke's hometown, a small-time pickpocket named Xiao Wu (Wang Hongwei) works the streets while his old friends have moved on to better-paying trades. Jin Xiaoyong (Hao Hongjian), who once belonged to the same crowd, now keeps his distance. The town changes around Xiao Wu, and the film follows how a man who cannot change with it gets pushed to the edge of the place he grew up in.
