Picnic on the Grass

Étienne Alexis (Paul Meurisse), a biologist running for president of Europe, throws a spotless picnic to celebrate his engagement and promote artificial insemination over passion. Then a shepherd's flute calls up a windstorm, and Jean Renoir drops him in the grass beside Nénette (Catherine Rouvel), a farm girl who wants a baby and has no use for men. The two of them, one all theory and one all appetite, are thrown together in the open air.
