“Practice doesn't always make perfect.”

Reed (Christopher Abbott) kisses his wife and baby goodbye, then books a hotel room for a business trip that isn't one. He has planned the perfect murder, and the call girl he hires to be the victim, Jackie (Mia Wasikowska), is not what he expected. Nicolas Pesce keeps the whole film in that hotel room, the pair of them moving through it by turns, the baby's crib back at home.
