Geppetto (Christian Rub) is a gentle woodcarver who builds a marionette to stand in for the son he doesn't have, and a fairy brings it to life. Pinocchio (Dickie Jones) can walk, talk and get himself into trouble, but he is still made of wood, with Jiminy Cricket (Cliff Edwards) assigned to keep an eye on him. Luske and Sharpsteen set one condition for becoming a real boy: he has to prove he is brave, truthful and unselfish.
