Pinocchio
In Collodi's Tuscany, the poor woodcarver Geppetto (Carlo Giuffrè) shapes a puppet from a piece of wood, and it gets up and walks. Roberto Benigni directs the film and plays the wooden boy himself, Pinocchio, who goes out into the world with the Talking Cricket (Peppe Barra) pestering him and the Blue Fairy (Nicoletta Braschi) watching over him. Geppetto only wants a son who will stay out of trouble, and a puppet who has just learned to run does not make that easy.
