In the year 3000, the inventor Geppetto (Howard Ryshpan) builds a prototype robot boy, with his assistant Spencer (Howie Mandel), a cyber penguin, and the holographic fairy Cyberina (Whoopi Goldberg) looking on. Pinocchio (Sonja Ball) is made to feel emotions and wants only to become a real boy, though Cyberina says he must first learn right from wrong. Daniel Robichaud moves Collodi's 1883 puppet story into a city of power surges and machines.
