Planes, Trains and Automobiles

(1987)Directed by John Hughes92 min · RComedy
“What he really wanted was to spend Thanksgiving with his family. What he got was three days with the turkey.”

Neal Page (Steve Martin) only wants to get from New York to Chicago in time for Thanksgiving, but a snowstorm and a run of cancelled connections keep putting the same stranger in the next seat. Del Griffith (John Candy) sells shower curtain rings and talks to everyone, whether or not they asked. John Hughes sends them across the Midwest by whatever will move, and Neal, tired and short-tempered, has to keep deciding how much of Del he can stand.
