Planet of the Apes

“Somewhere in the Universe, there must be something better than man!”

George Taylor (Charlton Heston), an astronaut who left Earth hoping to find a species better than his own, crash-lands on a distant planet where apes run the society and humans are mute animals in skins. He ends up hunted and caged, his life in the hands of a chimpanzee scientist, Zira (Kim Hunter), who is curious about him. Franklin J. Schaffner builds a world where the ones holding the whips believe they are the civilized ones.
