Platoon

“The first casualty of war is innocence.”

A nineteen-year-old volunteer (Charlie Sheen) arrives in Vietnam and joins a platoon where two sergeants command through opposite philosophies: Elias Grodin (Willem Dafoe) leads with moral restraint, while Robert Barnes (Tom Berenger) operates by rage and survival. Stone charts the cost of the war through one soldier's corruption, each choice calcifying into moral compromise he cannot undo.
