Poetic Justice

“'Cause nobody, but nobody can make it out here alone.”

Justice (Janet Jackson), a South Los Angeles hairdresser, wants to get through each day without thinking about Markell, her boyfriend, who was shot and killed. She writes poems about him in private, and when her car breaks down she rides to Oakland in a mail truck with her friend Iesha (Regina King), Chicago, and Lucky (Tupac Shakur). John Singleton puts four people in a cramped truck, and the long drive north tests whether Justice will let anyone near her again.
